Overview
The 7 Sisters Gateway refers to the main entry points to Northeast India through Guwahati (Assam) and Shillong (Meghalaya). Guwahati is called the Gateway of the Northeast because it has the main airport, railway station, and road connections. Shillong, known as the Scotland of the East, connects travelers to Meghalaya and nearby Seven Sister states. Together, Shillong and Guwahati serve as important cultural, travel, and tourism hubs for exploring the Seven Sisters of India.

Itinerary
Arrive at Guwahati Airport and drive to Shillong. En route, witness the scenic Umiam Lake (Barapani), the largest artificial lake in Meghalaya, set amidst lush green hills and surrounded by Khasi pine trees, offering breathtaking views.
If time permits, visit the Cathedral of Mary Help of Christians and Ward’s Lake. In the evening, enjoy free time at leisure. You may take a walk to the famous Police Bazaar for shopping and local experiences.
Overnight stay in Shillong.
After breakfast, drive to Cherrapunjee (Sohra), one of the wettest places on Earth, for an exciting day trip. En route, visit the famous Elephant Falls. At Sohra, stop at the Duwan Sing Syiem View Point for mesmerizing views of the surrounding hills and valleys.
In Cherrapunjee, witness the magnificent Seven Sisters (Nohsngithiang) Falls and the spectacular Nohkalikai Falls. Later, enjoy a gentle walk through Mawsmai Cave, a limestone cave known for its fascinating natural rock formations. Also visit the Ramakrishna Mission.
After sightseeing, drive back to Shillong for an overnight stay.
Note: Most waterfalls dry during the winter season.
After breakfast, we begin our journey from Shillong to Guwahati, the gateway to Northeast India. Upon arrival in Guwahati, we check in at the hotel and take some time to relax after the drive. Guwahati, located on the banks of the mighty Brahmaputra River, is an important cultural, religious, and commercial center of Assam.
Later in the day, we visit the famous Kamakhya Temple, one of the most revered Shakti Peethas in India. Situated atop the Nilachal Hill, the temple is dedicated to Goddess Kamakhya and attracts devotees from all over the country. The temple’s unique architecture, spiritual atmosphere, and panoramic views of the Brahmaputra make it a significant highlight of the visit.
Next, we proceed to the Assam State Museum, which offers a rich insight into the history, culture, and traditions of Assam. The museum displays ancient sculptures, manuscripts, costumes, weapons, and artifacts that reflect the diverse heritage of the state. (Please note that the museum remains closed on Mondays.)
Afterwards, we visit the serene Umananda Temple, located on Peacock Island, a small river island in the Brahmaputra. Dedicated to Lord Shiva, the temple is accessible by boat and is known for its peaceful surroundings and scenic beauty. The visit provides a calm and spiritual experience amidst nature.
After completing the sightseeing, we return to the hotel in Guwahati for rest and relaxation.

After breakfast, guests will be transferred to Guwahati Airport for their onward journey. The vehicle is arranged only for departure, ensuring a smooth and timely transfer.
